ABOUT THE PROJECT

I've created this website as my independent project for the Humanizing Artificial Intelligence Lab at Claremont Mckenna College. In the HAI Lab, we've spent the year studying the ethical implications of different artificial intelligence applications in the present and the future. The first half of the year was spent gaining a broader knowledge of machine learning and its many uses. In the second half of the year, each research assistant was given the opportunity to complete a final project focused on applications of artificial intelligence. I've chosen to research social media algorithms, how they operate, how algorithmic biases are incorporated, and how they might perpetuate human biases. My articles focus on a variety of topics centered around social media recommendation engines, ranging from research on the technology itself to insights into how human behavior and recommendation systems interact.
